was just browsing thru some forums and found some sensitive topics.
singapore is a democratic society. most people are doubting this.
we are all happy babies. that's for sure.
along orchard road.. i see people carrying branded bags. even today as i went to LV to collect my bag.. the queue was SO SO long. singaporeans are definitely rich. =)
and on my way to PS.. lots of big cars on the road. jamming up the traffic. arent they rich?
next. talk abt the condo that is still in construction. "icon" is the name. fully booked/reserved/paid. how much does it cost? 400,000 sing dollars for a one room one hall? no money how to buy? tell me?
however, as i walked along the streets.. i saw beggers. not one but 3 in orchard. but i realised something.. no one donated to them. not even me. why? i felt a tinge of guiltiness in my heart but i was thinking "why must they beg when people out there are slogging their hearts out to earn that 3 meals per day?"
2 of them that i've saw were people with 4 limbs. no physical injuries or wadever. not that im assuming.. but i believe they're able to get a decent job or something with the help of the government?
so where are all those money that we've donated to charity? be it homes for the elderly, disabled, orphans? and why are there still people begging?
with the upcoming GST hike. i believe our nation will have more money. and we're going to have the casino soon. revenues will definitely increase. will the people stop begging and receive some money from the government? i dunno. i shall see if the number of beggers decrease next year.
i think.. the number of people that can afford luxurious lifestyles will increase and at the same time, the number of people begging along the streets will increase.
the pyramid grows bigger proportionately. =)
sadly. the GST and the NETS hike will make life tougher for peasants like us. with these hikes, the merchants will have to increase their cost of products and the poor consumers will have to pay and pay and pay.
very soon, people will opt to migrate to other places because of the high standard of living. it's too hard to breath when the air is limited.
pay rise for everyone please.
